Targeting squid

#1 Post by MichealK » Mon May 04, 2015 10:16 pm

Hi everyone. I'm after some advice. I'm going fishing Saturday week near Coochiemudlo, launching from Vic Point, targeting squid...what should I be using?

I got 17 there last Monday. I was using a savage gear 3.0 squid jig in a honey colour. They were all hiding in the weed and rocks in the north east corner. Simply cast them out and hop them back. they were everywhere

Hi Guys

Does anyone have any experience with the difference between Southern Calamari and Tiger in terms of taste? I moved up from Melbourne to QLD and are curious if the tastes are similiar and they are worth targeting for a feed etc one day instead of say Snapper at Scarborough!

Best Regards
Frankie

Little bit tougher, so you need to spike them to kill them without the stress which keeps them not as tough. Nothing that marinating them in milk and kiwi fruit cant fix.

Hi Slim,

Thanks for your reply, it is appreciated.

I do have one final question I would be interested if anyone could answer!

How far north do the Southern Calamari actually get?

Best Regards
Frankie
