Noob FAQ

#1 Post by NonProAngler12 » Wed Mar 30, 2016 11:13 pm

Is there a noob FAQ?

Should we make one?

I know basic safety and fishing stuff but since swapping my touring kayak for a PA12 2 weeks ago (i haven't been in it on water yet...have sat on it in my computer room after a couple of wines  thinking of the weekend) I've been researching safe places to start out and the info is out there but it's pretty spread out and disconnected.

A short FAQ pointing out a handful of noob launch points and fishing areas and basic gear tips and techniques to get started would be fantastic.

My plan A for Saturday is a canal to get a feel for the PA12 and some fishing. I've seen youtube of raby bay yak fishing near the mouth that seemed safe/interesting/ok.

Any suggestions for my first trip? Safe/easy with some fishing?
Basic gear tips? Apologies if this info is here already...
Brisbane area by the way...

Gday mate I have gone out and fished Manly harbour a few time. If you want to go outside the harbour you can or you can stay inside. I've done both for mixed results. There is also Tingalpa creek you can can up past the road or out to the mouth or over along the mangroves. Have fun make sure you let someone know where you are going and most important of all HAVE FUN! Les

You are more than welcome to join the group from Gold Coast and northern rivers, we have midweek outings as well as Sunday ones. That is the group I go out with mostly and they are a great group of people, eve Toni. Les :gu:

Wow! Had the best day. Took off from the canoe club ramp at tingalpa. Spent the day around the mouth and saw turtles...possible dugong...attacked by a squid. Took home 65cm flathead caught on a crappy kmart rod reel combo trolling a tiny freshwater lure without a leader...havent fished for 20 years...great reintroduction. Going back next weekend. Thank you sir

Before you judge someone, paddle a mile in their kayak. That way, when you have judged them, you're a mile away and you have their Kayak.
