Thanks for the offer Ray, I'm in no great hurry as 99% of the fishing i do i don't use the electric. I'm going to drop it in to a mate that's an electrical repairer after easter and see what he thinks. If its stuffed i'll keep my eye out for some specials between now and september. Maybe even upgrade to a faster one if I'm going to be fishing at some of these bigger dams. :cool2:

Great effort Leigh... and great to meet all you guys.
My camera and camera skills weren't up to the standard set here... but, I thought I'd just include a shot of the Dam wall for those that couldn't make it.

Ironically, it was on my leisurely sail back to camp that I picked up my biggest fish of the weekend, out in open water, trolling fast and shallow in bright sunlight...Man, happy days!!!

Firstly I've got to give out a big thanks to Leigh for making this event happen. His efforts with organising this event were amazing. Good show mate mate :ha: Hey the tucker supplied was brilliant as well.

I flew up to Ballina a few days before the comp so that I could spend some time with family up there. Slim gratefully gave me a ride out to the dam and also provided me with his Hobie Outback for the comp. Thanks Slim :ha:

As for the fishing I came out pretty happy over the 2 days. I was more concerned about pulling another doughnut (just like Wivenhoe last year) and having Biggles pull the p!ss out of me all weekend.

10 mins into Saturday morning I landed a small 20cm Bass on a Megabass Live-X Smolt. I looked at Slim and said..."yep...no doughnut for me this time...I could pretty much head back to camp and be happy for the weekend" :snic:
Not long after that I was throwing around a baby griffin and pulled a nice 36cm Bass from out of the weedbed. Happy chappy indeed by now. I continued along with Slim, Biggles and Adrian to land another 2 smaller Bass for the morning before heading back with them for lunch.

Later that arvo I headed back out with Slim to watch him work some pockets/underhangs and land 3 nice Bass in a row. That 41cm Bass was awesome.

Come Sunday we hit the water again only to land a couple of smaller Bass. My head was pretty rattled thanks to Slim home made scotch the night before....bloody well worth it though nonetheless :ll: :beat:

All in all it was an awesome weekend out at the Dam and it was great to catch up with everyone up there.

I look forward to next years event :bye:

I was good to have Buj camp up with us again at "Camp Biggles", this year we also used the Coleman Event 14 shade tent to extend the living area, and wow what a difference. Anyone wanting a no fuss way of keeping the sun off your camp area, then this is the way to do it.
